Heath Totten

Who is Heath Totten?

Heath Edward Totten is a former right-handed pitcher in Minor League Baseball.

Totten attended Lamar University, where he was a Southland Conference all-star in 2000. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 5th round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft and assigned to the Yakima Bears. He started 13 games for the Bears during the 2000 season, finishing with an 8-2 record and 2.30 ERA and earning Low-A All-Star honors.

He spent most of the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the Single-A Vero Beach Dodgers in the Florida State League before being promoted to the Double-A Jacksonville Suns in late 2002. In 2003, with the Suns, he went 11-12 with a 3.42 ERA while making a career high 28 starts. He also set a Southern League record by pitching 39.1 consecutive innings without issuing a walk.

Totten pitched for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s in 2004 and 2005, but after accumulating a 7.12 ERA in 2005 he went back to Jacksonville for 2006. With the Suns, he was 8-5 with a 3.29 ERA in 21 starts, including one complete game shutout and was named to the Southern League Mid-season All-Star Team.

He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as a minor league free agent in 2007 and pitched for the Double-A Reading Phillies and Triple-A Ottawa Lynx.
