Who is Hemant Taneja?

Partners, Hemant invests in both new and existing technology

businesses. Areas of special interest include technology-intensive,

disruptive software, systems and components in various sectors

including wireless, energy, and consumer-focused businesses.Hemant is a Board member of Mascoma, 80108 Media (GC co-founded the company), Jumptap (GC co-founded the company), Stion and Sand9 and a board observer for Advanced Electron Beams, and Quickplay Media. Hemant also served on the Board of SiteAdvisor, a General Catalyst investment that was acquired by McAfee (MFE) in April 2006, and a board observer for m-Qube (General Catalyst founded the company) that was acquired by Verisgn (VSGN) in May 2006.Before

joining General Catalyst in 2002, Hemant was founder, president and CEO

of Isovia, a Boston-based mobile software and applications company that

was acquired by JP Mobile (MOT) in 2001. Earlier in his career, he

worked closely with operations management faculty at MIT to consult to

supply chain executives at Fortune 1000 firms on their global supply

chain strategies.Hemant is the co-founder and president of NEEIC.org,

a non-profit, collaborative organization focused on bringing together

local thought leaders and experts to apply New England innovation

towards solving the world's energy problems. He is a charter member of

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a non-profit organization focused on

helping entrepreneurs. He also is a frequent speaker at

industry-leading wireless events, including the Enterprise Wireless

Forum, DCI and Gartner; and has been a guest lecturer at MIT and

Harvard. Hemant holds an M.S. in Operations

Research, an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering Computer Science, a

B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Computer

Science, and a B.S. in Biology Biomedical Engineering; all from

the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
