Who is Hieu Van Le?

Hieu Van Le is Lieutenant Governor of South Australia and Chairman of the South Australian Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission.

Lieutenant Governor Hieu Van Le is the first Asian to head the state's Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission. Le was born in Quang Tri, South Vietnam in 1954. He was educated and raised in Da Nang, and attended the University of Dalat. He fled Vietnam from the new communist regime in November 1977, and arrived in Darwin, Northern Territory. He has an [MBA] and an Economics degree from the University of Adelaide. He has been working as a senior investigator and manager with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission since the early 1990s and is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and a Fellow Member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He became the Lieutenant Governor of South Australia on 31 August 2007. He also had been awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Adelaide in 2008.
