Who is Hildr Hrólfsdóttir?
According to Scandinavian medieval sources Hildr or Ragnhildr Hrólfsdóttir was Hrólfr nefja's daughter. She married Rögnvald, jarl of Møre. They had three sons: Ívarr, Hrólfr, nicknamed Göngu-Hrölfr and better known as Rollo, and Þórir.
Hrólfr used to go on Viking expeditions. One summer he plundered the Vík. This aroused king Haraldr hárfagri's anger and he was banished.
Hildr appealed unsuccessfully for clemency. On this occasion she composed a scaldic stanza, which is one of the few testimonies of scaldic poetry composed by a woman that has come down to us.
