Who is Hussein Saeed?

Hüseyin Said Muhammed El-Ebid is a former Iraqi football player. Hussein Saeed is in 2nd place in FIFA’s list of most international matches at 131 matches. He was also in the Iraq national football team's golden team in 1986. He competed for Iraq at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics.

Hussein is the most capped Iraqi player ever with over 100 caps. He is Iraq's top goal scorer and is one of the best players in Iraq an Asia. He also competed in 1977 FIFA Youth World Cup where he scored a hat-trick against Canada and got the silver boot. In the Gulf cup 1979 he scored 10 goals which became the most goals in the Gulf cup history.

He had been the Iraqi national team’s star striker at the time of Saddam Hussein’s rise to power, and was revered by millions for his crucial goals he scored, guiding Iraq to the Olympics on three occasions and their only World Cup qualification in 1986.
