Who is Iain King?

Iain King CBE is a British writer, most notable for How to Make Good Decisions and Be Right All the Time – Solving the Riddle of Right and Wrong, a bestselling book described by the Royal Institute of Philosophy as an “ambitious attempt to think through and answer questions at the heart of morality”. King's hybrid philosophy is a distant descendant of Jeremy Bentham’s ‘Greatest Happiness for the Greatest Number’ principle, adapted significantly to correct for the many criticisms which have been made of utilitarianism since the Enlightenment. His work has influenced the British Liberal Democrats, and the Buddhist community and is taught in some undergraduate philosophy programmes. King was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2013 Birthday Honours for frontline work in Libya, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
