Who is Ian Thorogood?

Ian Thorogood is a former Australian rules footballer who played and coached in the Victorian Football League.

Thorogood played for Melbourne, including three premiership teams. Following his retirement from playing, he coached Waverley to a premiership in the Victorian Football Association in 1965. He moved on to become assistant coach of South Melbourne in 1970.

He joined the Carlton Football Club as assistant coach in 1976, but took over the senior coaching position when John Nicholls resigned at the beginning of the season. He coached the club for the 1976 and 1977 seasons.
