Who is J. D. Greear?

J. D. Greear, is the Lead Pastor at the Summit Church of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, a position he has held since January 2002. Before coming to work at the Summit he had worked among Muslims in Southeast Asia with the International Mission Board. He entered the Ph.D. program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1999, graduating in 2003 with a doctorate in Philosophy, concentrating primarily on Christian and Islamic theology. He is also a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute and received his Bachelor of Arts from Campbell University. Greear comes from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Greear now pastors more than 6,000 weekend attenders at the Summit Church and is dedicated to planting churches both within the United States and abroad. He has authored a number of publications, including Breaking the Islam Code and Gospel: Recovering the Power that made Christianity Revolutionary. Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart: How to Know for Sure You Are Saved was published in 2013. Greear lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife Veronica and their four children.
