Who was J. E. Meredith?
J. E. Meredith was a Welsh Presbyterian minister and writer.
Meredith was educated at the University College of North Wales, Bangor, serving as president of the Student's Union, and then studied at Jesus College, Oxford from 1928 to 1930, achieving a degree in divinity with distinction. He was secretary of the Dafydd ap Gwilym Society and was the first Welshman to become president of the National Union of Students. After being ordained, he preached extensively in England and Wales and wrote articles and books. His works included the first book in Welsh on the Apocrypha and a book on the poetry of the Welsh poet Gwenallt. He became moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Wales.
