Who is Jamar Chess?

Jamar Chess was born into music royalty and today continues the legacy as a third generation music man. His grandfather Leonard Chess started the legendary Chess Records in Chicago in 1950 and was responsible for the creation of careers for such seminal artists as Chuck Berry, Etta James, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters, among many others. Chess Records changed what America listened to, and paved the way for blues, R&B, rock and roll and modern day music itself. Jamar's father Marshall Chess, a veteran music producer and executive produced over 100 Chess Records projects. Marshall went on to form and run Rolling Stones Records for seven years. He helped create the Rolling Stones famous tongue and lip logo and was involved as Executive Producer on seven Rolling Stone #1 albums during the 1970s.

In his teens, Jamar was filing lead sheets at the family publishing company Arc Music. This led to a Creative A&R International position where he managed the company's international operations and promoted the catalog to new areas of exploitation, focusing on remix projects, digital licensing and synchronization licensing.
