Who is Jay Voss?
Jay C. Voss is a professional baseball player who is a free agent. He was selected in the eighth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the Florida Marlins. He attended Mater Dei High School and Kaskaskia College.
In 2007 Voss made his professional debut with the Short-Season Jamestown Jammers. He was 0–7 with 35 strikeouts and a 7.63 earned run average in 15 games—11 of them starts.
Voss spent the 2008 season with the Class-A Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League. After 11 starts, Voss was moved to the bullpen to become a relief pitcher on July 19. He went 2–5 with a 7.24 ERA as a starter and 1–1 with a 4.15 ERA in 15 relief appearances. He went a total 3–6 with a 6.39 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 69 innings pitched.
In 2009 Voss split the season between the Class-A Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads and the Double-A Jacksonville Suns. He went 0–1 with 10 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA in 10 games with Jupiter. With Jacksonville, Voss went 3–0 with 36 strikeouts and a 2.97 ERA in 30 games. Voss went a combined 3–1 with 46 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA in 49⅔ innings pitched. After the 2009 season Voss was assigned to the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.
