Who was Jean d'Eaubonne?

Jean d'Eaubonne was a French art director. Over the course of his career he worked with some of his country's most distinguished directors, including Jean Cocteau on such productions as "Le Sang d'un Poete". D'Eaubonne was formally trained to be a painter and a sculptor. He broke into films working as an assistant to production designer Lazare Meerson. He moved to the US in the late-1950s and remained there until his death in 1971. He received an Oscar nomination in 1951 for his work on Max Ophüls's La Ronde.
