Who is Jesse Shapiro?

Jesse M. Shapiro is an American economist. He is the Chookaszian Family Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Shapiro has published a number of working papers in the area of industrial organization, political economy and behavioral economics. One of his most famous papers concerns obesity in the USA.

Shapiro holds a PhD in Economics, an MA in Statistics and a BA in Economics, all from Harvard University. Before joining the Chicago Booth faculty, he was an inaugural Becker Fellow at the Becker Center on Chicago Price Theory.

The Economist lists Shapiro as one of the top 8 young economists in the world.
