Who was John Bastyr?

John Bartholomew Bastyr was a naturopath, homeopath, chiropractor, naturopathic obstetrician and educator. He was an influential advocate of naturopathic medicine at a time when it faced political pressure in the United States, and his leadership is often credited for setting the stage for the resurgence of natural medicine.

Bastyr University, founded in 1978, was named in tribute to Bastyr's work integrating traditional and modern medicine.
