Who is John Blue?

John Thomas Blue is a former ice hockey goaltender. He was drafted in the tenth round, 197th overall, by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. He played in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres. He currently works as a pastor, after having become deeply involved in religious studies during his playing days.

Blue grew up in Huntington Beach, California, and, like the majority of the players from his state, honed his skills playing roller hockey. A self-described "surfer dude," he played for several years as the Boston Bruins back-up goaltender, and for a while, it appeared he would be the goalie of the future. However, his career stagnated, and he would only play a few more NHL games after his Boston tenure.
