Who was John Winter?
John Arthur "Jack" Winter was an Australian high jumper who won that event at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a jump of 1.98 metres.
A 23-year-old bank teller, Winter won Australia's first, and to this day only Olympic high jump gold medal.
