Who is Josef W. Wegner?

Josef William Wegner is an American Egyptologist and Associate Professor in Egyptology at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations of the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained his PhD degree in Egyptology. He is noted for his continued research at Abydos, where he discovered the tomb of pharaoh Sobekhotep I in 2013 and that of pharaoh Seneb Kay in 2014. He is the son of astrophysicist Gary Wegner.
