Who was Kamal Hassan Ali?
General Kamal Hassan Ali was an Egyptian politician and military hero. He was Prime Minister of Egypt from 17 July 1984 to 4 September 1985.
Ali was involved in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and the Yom Kippur War. He was head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service from 1975 to 1978. After that, he served as Minister of Defense and Military Production under President Anwar Sadat. Ali also played a role in peace negotiations between Egypt and Israel, resulting in a treaty in 1979.
He was head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate from 1986 to 1989.
General Ali became the chairman of the Egyptian-Gulf Bank in 1986.
Kamal Hassan Ali died on 27 March 1993 at the age of 71 and was buried with a military funeral.
