Who is Kamala Laxman?

Kamala Laxman is an Indian author and wife of cartoonist R. K. Laxman. She has authored several books to her credit. In the mid-1970s, she was commissioned by India Book House to write for children. Among the notable children's books are The Thama Stories. In addition, her book Tenali Raman were serialized into thirteen episodes by state-television broadcaster Doordarshan.

Laxman studied at St Thomas' Convent in Chennai and later graduated from Indraprastha College, Delhi. She went on to study interior decoration at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai. Her interests include travelling, handicrafts and books. Kamala Laxman has travelled extensively in India and abroad. She is the life president of the Mahalakshmi Ladies' Club, founded by her forty years ago.
