Who was Lars Jorde?

Lars Jorde was a Norwegian painter.

He was born in Vang, but eventually settled in Lillehammer. He studied under Gerhard Munthe, Alfred Philippe Roll, Eilif Peterssen and Harriet Backer, and Kristian Zahrtmann. He painted in different styles over the course of his career, and is represented with several works in the National Gallery of Norway.

Jorde also worked as a llustrator, illustrating Nansen and Sverdrup's Fram over polhavet and Andersen's I cancelliraadens dage, among others.
