Leo I of Galicia became in turn Knyaz of Belz, Knyaz of Peremyshl, Knyaz of Halych and Grand Prince of Kiev.
He was a son of King Daniel of Galicia and his first wife Anna Mstislavna of Novgorod. As his father, Lev was a member of the senior branch of Vladimir II Monomakh descendents.
