Who is Lon McEachern?

Lon McEachern is an American sports broadcaster, who is most known for his hand-by-hand commentary on The World Series of Poker. McEachern, who graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in communications, is also the host of Fox network's On the Pole. He has been appearing on ESPN's poker coverage since the late 1990s.

McEachern has teamed with sportswriter Norman Chad since 2003 on ESPN's poker coverage. Chad tends to serve as the foil to McEachern's occasionally serious hand-by-hand poker analysis.

In the past, McEachern has also hosted ESPN's K-1 kickboxing, martial arts, Scrabble and billiards coverage, among other sports. He has also hosted events for the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships, and has provided commentary for "Strikeforce on NBC" with Ken Shamrock. His nephew is voice actor and sound designer Matthew Wood.

McEachern was most recently named the play-by-play announcer for ESPN's coverage of the 2012-13 PBA Bowling Tour, working with analyst Randy Pedersen.
