Who was Lou Angeli?

Lou Angeli has been involved in filmmaking, television production and firefighting most of his life. His vast personal experience as a firefighter and an emergency medical technician enables him to capture dramatic situations in powerfully realistic videos, which have earned him a number of industry awards.Angeli's most notable work is documenting fire-rescue incidents from the first responder's point-of-view. Riding along with fire departments in the USA, Canada, Italy and Sweden, Angeli follows firefighters inside burning buildings to offer the viewer a unique perspective on life as a firefighter. He has contributed to programs like ABC's 20/20, Dateline: NBC, Rescue/911, Inferno, and Real-TV. During his television career, he has been a studio director for Philadelphia's PBS station, a remote director for ESPN, and a documentary cameraman for CNN. He also served as Executive Producer for the Firehouse Video Training System, the nation's first accredited firefighter video training series.Angeli's most popular work is the 2005 documentary Answering the Call: Ground Zero's Volunteers. Narrated by Kathleen Turner, the film pays tribute to all of the volunteers who descended upon New York City's Ground Zero after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.Lou Angeli, the writer, provides the reader a riveting peek at life deep inside the trenches of emergency response. He has been referred to as the firefighters' storyteller, and his written work includes breaking news, features, fiction - but most importantly articles dealing with firefighter safety.He remains active in Fire-Rescue-EMS as a disaster responder with his county's Community Emergency Response Team and as a volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps, two programs borne of the ashes of the World Trade Center disaster.KK
