Who is M. E. Mitchell?
M. E. Mitchell is an Irish botanist and writer.
Mitchell was born in Galway and educated at St. Mary's College and University College, Galway, graduating with a B.Sc. in 1956. In 1961, he obtained his doctorate at University of Rennes 1, from which time he was employed at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In 1962, he was appointed lecturer with the Department of Botany at U.C.G. In 1976, he was Associate Professor of Botany. He studied Irish lichenology and contributed to the Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy, in addition to other journals.
