Who is M. Kulasegaran?
M. Kulasegaran s/o V. Murugeson commonly referred to as M. Kulasegaran is a Malaysian politician and is the current Member of Parliament for Ipoh Barat, Perak. He is the National Vice Chairman of the Democratic Action Party in the Pakatan Rakyat opposition coalition. He also serves as the DAP's vice-chairman.
Kulasegaran, a lawyer, was first elected to Parliament in the 2004 election.
Kulasegaran is an ethnic Tamil and has voiced many issues affecting the Indian community in Malaysia. He has claimed that "Indians are treated like third-class citizens" and criticised the demolition of Hindu temples. He also debates many issues affecting Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Kulasegaran has been involved in a number of Parliamentary controversies. In 2007, he was suspended from Parliament for four days for disobeying the Deputy Speaker, and in 2008 he was called a "bastard" by a government politician because he was defending the citizen.
