Who is Madosini?

Madosini Latozi Mpahleni is a South African musician, known for playing traditional instruments such as the uhadi and mhrubhe musical bows, and the isitolotolo. She performs under the name Madosini, and is regarded as a "national treasure" in her field. Madosini speaks only isiXhosa and is unable to read or write. She has also collaborated and written songs with British Rock Singer Patrick Duff and in 2003 and they went on to perform a number of successful concerts together around the world.

In 2008, Madosini performed at the WOMAD festival, and was the first person to be recorded and documented in the festival's Musical Elders Archives project.
