Who is Malik al-Ashtar?

Malik Al-Ashtar was one of the most loyal companion of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib, the cousin of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Furthermore, he occupies a prominent position in Islam. Malik al-Ashtar became a Muslim during the time of Muhammad. And since then he strived to purify his soul. His hunger for purification rose him to a position of prominence during the caliphates of Uthman and Imam Ali. During the caliphate of Imam Ali, he fought in several battle like the Battle of Jamal and Siffin. However, he is recognized for his pious and humble nature as well as his fierce and steadfast defense for Islam in battle. One of the fiercest warriors of his time, he served Imam Ali like no one else.
