Who was Marcel Cellier?
Marcel Cellier was a Swiss organist, ethnomusicologist and music producer, internationally known for his Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares project presenting Bulgarian traditional music and his work with Gheorghe Zamfir.
Founder of the "Disques Cellier" recording label.
Extensively researched Romanian folk music in the 1960s, which led to his discovery of Gheorghe Zamfir.
Presented with "Grand prix audiovisuel de l'Europe" from the "Academie du disque français" in Paris 1984.
Grammy winner 1990 as producer of "Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares, Vol. II" featuring, among others, the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir.
From 1960 and the next 25 years he hosted a weekly radio show Westschweizer Radio, which he called "From the Black Sea to the Baltic".
A documentary called Balkan Melodie was made in 2012 about his travels in Eastern Europe.
