Marci Ien

Who is Marci Ien?

Marci Ien is a Canadian broadcast journalist. She is currently the news anchor and cohost for CTV's Canada AM, as well as an occasional substitute anchor for CTV National News and CTV News Channel.

Originally one of the children on the Crossroads program Circle Square, Ien studied journalism at Ryerson University. She began her career at CHCH-TV in Hamilton, Ontario in 1991 as a news writer and general assignment reporter. In 1995 she began reporting from Queen's Park in Toronto, with her reports appearing both on CHCH's local news and on WIC's national newscast Canada Tonight. In 1997, she moved to CTV where she made her national debut at CTV Atlantic, covering major stories including the crash of Swissair Flight 111 off Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia.

In 1995, she won a Canadian Radio Television News Directors award for her news serial Journey to Freedom, a look at the Underground Railroad. In 2008, Ien was the recipient of the BBPA Harry Jerome Award in the media category.
