Martha Campbell Plimpton is an American actress, singer and former model. Plimpton is a screen, stage and television actress. She first appeared as Jonsy in the feature film The River Rat before rising to prominence in the Richard Donner film The Goonies portraying the character Stef. She then appeared in The Mosquito Coast portraying Emily Spellgood. Plimpton's role garnered favorable recognition within the feature film industry. Throughout her career Plimpton has appeared in feature films, including Running on Empty, Parenthood, Eye of God, The Sleepy Time Gal, Hair High and Small Town Murder Songs.

Plimpton developed and established a successful career on stage. She has appeared on Broadway and theater. She is recognized on Broadway for her roles in The Coast of Utopia, Top Girls, Pal Joey and Shining City.
