Who is Matt Coles?

Matthew Thomas Coles is an English cricketer. He is a medium-pace bowler and left-handed batsman, He plays for Hampshire County Cricket Club and has represented England Lions.

Coles made his first-class debut for Kent County Cricket Club in their match against Loughborough University Centre of Cricketing Excellence on 15 April 2009. He had also played for Kent at under-13, under-15 and under-17 levels. Coles reached his maiden first-class century against Yorkshire by hitting a reverse sweep for six. He was awarded a county cap in August 2012.

He took 59 first-class wickets during the 2012 season which saw him called up to the England Lions squad and was included in their tour of Australia in 2013. Unfortunately, he was sent home early from the tour for drinking beyond curfew hours more than once with Ben Stokes.

On 27 August 2013, Coles signed on loan for Hampshire until the end of the season. In Hampshire's last game of the season against Essex, Coles took match figures of 10-154, which prompted Hampshire into signing Coles in a 3-year deal.
