Who was Moshe Dovid Winternitz?
Rabbi Moshe Dovid Winternitz, was Head of Beth din in Satmar, Hungary and one of the greatest scholars of his time. People from around the globe would send him Halachic queries.
As one would walk by 42 Petöfi St. next to the "Kehilla House", you would see Rabbi Moshe Dovid totally engrossed in Talmud, and writing his thoughts.
In summer of 1944 he was deported with the other Jews of Satmar to Auschwitz Death camp where he perished.
