Who was Mstislav III of Kiev?
Mstislav Romanovich the Old was Prince of Pskov, Smolensk, Belgorod, Halych and Grand Prince of Kiev. He was the son of Roman Rostislavich.
Mstislav went to war against the Mongols of Genghis Khan in 1223 and was defeated at the Battle of the Kalka River by the Mongol generals, Jebe and Subutai, after which he was executed by suffocation.
