Who is N. S. Lakshminarayan Bhat?

N. S. Lakshminarayan Bhat is a Kannada poet from Shivamogga distrct. He was awarded the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi in 1974. After completing a M.A., he served as a professor and then as the dean of the Arts College. Bhat was a scholar-poet widely read in kannada, English and Sanskrit literature.

His work Horalu Dariyalli Kavya earned him the Sahitya Academy award. Bhat translated 50 sonnets of William Shakespeare and works of poet Yeats into Kannada language. The Masti Award was given to poet N.S. Lakshminarayana Bhat in 2007.
