Who is Ng Chee Khern?

Ng Chee Khern is the Director of Singapore's Security and Intelligence Division. He was formerly Chief of the Republic of Singapore Air Force and held the rank of Major-General.

Prior to his appointment as RSAF Chief, Ng served as second-in-command as Chief of Staff. He took over the role of RSAF Chief from Lim Kim Choon, who retired in March 2006.

Ng joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1984, and was a recipient of the President's Scholarship in 1984 and the SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1985.

Ng was educated in Victoria School and Hwa Chong Junior College. He holds a Master of Arts in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of Oxford, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. He was one of the RSAF's first F-16 pilots, and flew the Northrop F-5E Tiger-II.

Among his other appointments in the SAF, Ng was the Commanding Officer of the RSAF's 149 Squadron, the Commander of Tengah Air Base, and the Director of the Joint Operations and Planning Directorate.
