Who was Okada Shigetaka?
Okada Shigetaka was a retainer of the Japanese clan of Oda following the Sengoku period to the Azuchi-Momoyama period of the 16th century of Japan. Shigetaka was the son of Okada Shigeyoshi, one of the Seven Spears of Azukizaka. Shigetaka along with his father both served under a son of Oda Nobunaga, known as Oda Nobukatsu. Later on Nobukatsu began to believe that many of his retainers, including Shigetaka, were plotting against him on the behalf of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Nobutaka summoned Shigetaka and the others to his castle, and killed them all with a surprise attack.
