Qingyuan Jiedushi

Who is Qingyuan Jiedushi?

Qingyuan Jiedushi was the official title of Chen Hong, the military commissioner of the Pinghai military prefecture. Following the assassination of Wang Yanjun by his brother Wang Yanhan in 933 and the subsequent proclamation by Wang Yanhan of himself as the emperor of Min, Chen Hong reigned independent in Qingyuan, with his capital at Quanzhou.

In 978, Qingyuan was conquered by the Northern Song as the last stages of their war of reunification, finally bringing all of South China under the control of the central government.
