Who is Quintus Aelius Tubero?

Quintus Aelius Tubero was a Roman consul in 11 BCE. He was probably the son of Lucius Aelius Tubero; the friend of Cicero. If so, then he was a famous jurist, who had been pardoned by Caesar for serving in Pompey's army. His likely year of birth is 74 BCE.

He was possibly the father of Sextus Aelius Catus, who was himself consul in 4 CE. His possible granddaughter was Aelia Paetina, who married future Emperor Claudius in 28 CE. It is unknown what relation if any, he had with the adopted father of Sejanus, Gaius Aelius Gallus or Lucius Aelius Lamia who was the consul in 3 CE. It is unlikely that his father Lucius Aelius Tubero is the same man who is the father of Lucius Aelius Lamia.
