Who is Roohi Zuberi?

Roohi Zuberi or is a social worker, fighting for women’s rights for more than three decades. Her family has a long political and social lineage. She is also an active politician and works with the Indian National Congress.

Zuberi had also served as a Senior Cabinet Member in the Aligarh Muslim University. Afterwards she became Vice President and also President of the Students' Union.

During her University day's she became District President of the National Students’ Union of India.

In 1986, she established the Women's Welfare Society which facilitates career counselling and training programmes for women free of cost, and assists in solving domestic violence cases. She also provides legal counselling to the poor and weaker section of society.

Zuberi is also a vocal advocate of minority rights and the rights of weaker section of the society.

The Women's Welfare society is well known throughout northern India and central India. This society has become synonymous with providing women's rights among the poor.

She was a Member of the Railway Board and the Telephone Advisory Board.
