Who was Rosalía Mera?
Rosalia Mera is a self-made billionaire and one of Spain's richest women. She started building her fortune together with former husband Amancio Ortega Gaona when they established a home-based business, Confecciones Goa which produced dressing gowns and lingerie. This small business developed into Inditex, one of the world's largest retailer and owner of the popular Zara brand. After the couple divorced Rosalia retained a directorship in inditex (till 2004) and a 7% stake in the company. She later invested in several companies including a company doing cancer research, a Spanish film production company and a company manufacturing fingerprinting identification kits for babies.
