Who was S. Meenakshi Ammal?
S. Meenakshi Ammal (1906-1962) was born in Kottur, Tamilnadu. Very well versed in culinary skills, she was constantly besieged with requests for recipes by her relatives. Her uncle suggested that she compile her recipies into a book, which became the first of a three volume series: 'Samaithu Paar'. Her books have been in print since 1951 in several languages.
