Who was Selby Norton?

Selby Norton was an English cricketer who played for Kent. He was born in West Malling and died in Brixton.

Norton made an appearance in 1860 for the Gentlemen of Kent, but his only first-class appearance came three years later against Nottinghamshire. A doctor by trade, Norton was called up to play in an emergency by his brother South Norton, who was the county captain at the time. Acting as captain in the absence of his brother, he scored 10 runs in the only innings in which he batted and took one catch in the outfield.

His brothers, Bradbury and South Norton, and nephew Henry Hayman, also played first-class cricket.
