Who is Serge Dassault?
Heir to legendary inventor Marcel Dassault, Serge Dassault, the second-richest man in France, has tripled his familys assets in the last 15 years. he is a French entrepreneur (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dassault Group) and conservative politician. Dassault is chairman of Groupe Dassault, which has interests in software and media. It owns Le Figaro, the venerable conservative French daily founded in 1826. Group also owns 50% of Dassault Aviation, a world leader in aircraft manufacturing and important military supplier to the french government. He is a member of the Union for a Popular Movement political party, was the mayor of the city of Corbeil-Essonnes, a suburb of Paris, and in 2004 he became a senator. In this position, he has been an outspoken advocate of conservative positions on economic and employment issues, claiming that France's taxes and workforce regulations ruin its entrepreneurs.
