Who is Sharkula?

Sharkula a.k.a. Thig a.k.a. Brian Wharton a.k.a. Thigamahjigee is a Chicago-area rapper. His lyrics are known for being scatterbrained, discontinuous, free-associative, non-violent, apolitical and random. He is also known as a flâneur for promoting himself via use of flyers and stickers scattered around vending boxes in Chicago. He has appeared on Chic-a-Go-Go and his album Martin Luther King Jr. Whopper With Cheese was voted by readers of The Chicago Reader as one of the 20 best albums of 2004.

Subject of a documentary film, titled Sharkula: Diarrhea of a Madman, produced by long-time friend Joshua Conro, chronicling his life, art, music and struggles along with the many producers and rappers that he has collaborated with over the years. He has collaborated with Willis Earl Beal, who looks up to Sharkula for inspiration.
