Who is Shayne McMenemy?

Shayne McMenemy is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer of the 1990s and 2000s. An Ireland international representative forward, he played his club football in Australia for the Western Suburbs Magpies and in England for Oldham, Halifax and Hull, with whom he won the 2005 Challenge Cup.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Mcmenemy played for Western Suburbs Magpies in the NRL. A local junior he played in every grade for the club from 1993-1999. Was first signed on a Scholarship and played all thru the juniors ranks until reaching 1st grade with the Magpies. He went on to play in the 1st grade squad for 3 seasons before moving to the UK.

He then moved to England at the end of the 1999 season where he joined Oldham, Halifax in the European Super League. Then onto his current team Hull. He has also represented Ireland Rugby League Team.

He won the 2005 Challenge Cup with Hull at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff against the Leeds Rhinos, 25-24. Playing a starring role in the game putting in two decisive kicks. The first leading to Hull's first try. The 2nd giving them the ball again which let to the winning try.

Hull reached the 2006 Super League Grand final to be contested against St Helens RLFC and McMenemy played at second-row forward in his side's 4-26 loss at Old Trafford, Manchester.
