Who is Abhinava Sacchidananda Bharati I?
Abinava Sacchidananda Bharati I was the 28th acharya of the illustrious Sringeri Sharada Peetham. The acharya visited Varanasi and on the way back, he camped at Nasik. Due to war related disturbances in Sringeri the acharya decided to settle down for sometime at Nasik. The Peshwa king immediately arranged for all help to the acharya. He also gave him eight villages for construction and functioning of the matha. Soon after in the year 1767, the acharya died there after appointing Narasimha Bharathi VII as his successor.
The Maha Samadhi has been built into a temple and managed by the matha. It is located in Panchavati area of Nasik.
