Who was Stanley Steingut?

Stanley Steingut was an American politician, insurance executive, New York Democratic Party leader and lawyer. He took over his father's position as Boss of Brooklyn County Democratic politics and eventually parlayed that position to become Speaker of the New York State Assembly. Allegations of self-dealing dogged him throughout his career and ultimately led to his downfall in a party challenge by a nearly unknown candidate.
