Who is Subbaraman Vijayalakshmi?
Subbaraman Vijayalakshmi is a female chess player from India. She is an International Master.
In 2011 her Elo rating was third amongst the Indian female chess players, after Humpy Koneru and Dronavalli Harika. In April 2006 she was ranked the 11th female chess player in the world.
Growing up in Madras she learned the game from her father. She is married with the Indian Grandmaster Sriram Jha. Her sisters S. Meenakshi and S. Bhanupriya are also chess players.
She has won more medals than any other player for India in the Chess Olympiads. She has won almost all national age group titles, including the senior title.
In 2001 the Indian government gave her the Arjuna Award.
