Tai Kwok Yuen

Who is Tai Kwok Yuen?

Tai Kwok Yuen was a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1992 to 1997. Tai was the first ethnic Chinese person to serve as a general authority of the LDS Church.

Tai was born in Hong Kong and converted to Mormonism there in 1959. Prior to his call as a general authority, Tai served as the mission president of the Hong Kong Mission of the church and as a Regional Representative of the Twelve Apostles.

In 1992, Tai became a member of the church's Second Quorum of the Seventy. After a five-year period of service, Tai was released. During his time as a general authority, Tai served in the presidency of areas of the church in Asia. From 2004 to 2007, Tai was the president of the LDS Church's Hong Kong China Temple.

Tai is married to Hui Hua Lai and is the father of three children.
