Who is Tanvir Mokammel?
Tanvir Mokammel is a bengali filmmaker, author and a former communist activist from Bangladesh. He studied English literature film University of Dhaka and worked as a left-wing journalist for landless peasant in rural area. As a filmmaker he has made five full-length feature films and twelve documentaries of which some have received national and international awards. His movie "Nadir Naam Modhumati" and "Chitra Nodir Pare" ranked second and third respectively in the list of 10 best Bangladeshi films, in the audience and critics' polls conducted by the British Film Institute. He is now the director of “Bangladesh Film Institute” and “Bangladesh Film Centre”.
